DOC. magazine is the representive magazine of the design faculty of the Munich University Of Applied Sciences. The magazine is published biannually with every issue being dedicated to a specific subject. The content of the magazine allows people outside the faculty to gain insights into projects and student work, encouraging critical conversations, accentuating changes and showcasing ideas and design approaches.

Number 13’s topic was Authenticity. We chose authenticity as a subject because it is a new standard that exists independently of good and bad and allows a completely new view on the subject of design. The problem is: authenticity is not tangible. Therefore we interviewed people like Konstantin Grcic or Daniel Angermann, in addition to Dr. Angelika Nollert, one of the curators of the Neue Sammlung at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, to ask them about their position and understanding of authenticity in the field of design. The question arises as to what extent we disguise ourselves in the search for authenticity and whether the search itself is not already a form of proof that authenticity does not exist.
